Die Casting Process
The die casting process is a versatile way of producing engineered metal parts. The die casting process entails forcing molten metal under high pressure into reusable steel moulds.
- Advantages of the Die Casting process:
- Dies can be designed to produce complex shapes
- A high degree of accuracy and repeatability
- Parts can be sharply defined, with smooth surfaces
- Suitable for a wide variety of attractive and serviceable finishes
Die cast parts are important components of finished products ranging from automobiles to light fittings.
Parts can be as simple as a simple bracket or as complex as a gearbox housing, or highly finished electronic enclosure.
Die Casting can be carried out via High Pressure or Gravity die casting methods.
Designers should select the most appropriate die casting method. This decision is usually based on the anticipated production volumes of the component.
It can also be influenced by considerations of the required dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
For the second part of the die casting process, designers should decide upon the appropriate alloy.
At MRT we offer a single - source solution in meeting die casting manufacturing requirements. We can manage the whole die casting process for you so you don't have to deal with numerous suppliers.
We also have decades of experience in the die casting process and the manufacturing of aluminium and zinc die casting in the UK.
